New Mom Necessities to the Rescue!
Momming aint’ easy, especially for new moms. There are so many unknowns, so many questions and so many baby items you think you just need to have. Now that I’m pregnant with my second child and I’ve “been there, done that” so to speak, I’m going into motherhood with a lot of important lessons learned from the first time around. We bought so many things that we never even used, so this time I am sticking with the necessities…and a few cute things I just couldn’t pass up, of course. 🙂 Babbleboxx (who sponsored this post and hooked me up with the brands featured here today) provided me with a lovely new mom gift box that includes some of these much-needed necessities.
Avery was born in June and our new baby will be born in September. Around these parts, it’s usually still pretty warm so we will be stocking up on a TON of these Gerber Onesies. They have lots of solid colors and prints that can be worn alone (usually) or paired with pants or leggings (you know, for fancy occasions) to create super-cute outfits. I love that so many of their colors and prints are gender neutral because we are Team Green and need to buy at least a few outfits before this little one makes his or her appearance here in the world. I like these onesies because they are soft, 100% cotton, easy to slide over baby’s head when he inevitably spits up everywhere and you can get short or long sleeve lengths. Definitely an essential!
Right now, Gerber has some awesome money-saving discounts on their website, too.
Mustela® Maternity Stretch Marks Prevention Cream
Boudreaux Butt Paste
And now a cream for the babies. 🙂 Like most newborns, Avery’s skin was very sensitive when he was tiny. We used cloth diapers as much as possible, but whenever he got a nasty red diaper rash, we turned to disposables and diaper cream to clear it up (and lots of nakie baby time). I hadn’t tried Boudreaux’s, but I am excited to test it out on our new little one…because I am sure we won’t survive the newborn months without at least a few diaper rashes. Boudreux’s Butt Paste (gotta love that name) comes in three fast-acting formulas to protect against and treat diaper rash; Original, Maximum Strength and All Natural. All of the formulas are made without parabens, preservatives, dyes and phthalates, but I especially like the All Natural because it also contains soothing aloe vera and beeswax.
Sesame Street Naturals
Aren’t these adorable? I’m pretty picky about what we put on Avery’s skin and, obviously, I’ll feel that way about our new baby, too. Sesame Street Naturals bath products are available in Target stores and through Target.com and come in easy-to-use packaging so independent toddlers (like ours) can help out with bath time. What makes these products natural? Not only are they paraben and phthalate free, they are made with natural ingredients like shea butter, aloe vera, coconut oil and fruit and veggie extracts. They offer a Bubble Bath, Tip, Tummy & Toe shampoo and body wash 2-in-1, Chubby Cheek Balm for dry lips and cheeks and a Spray Me Lotion. Avery loves having his own lip balm so he especially loves the Chubby Cheek Balm. And, being the helper that he is, he can’t wait to help with the new baby’s bath time.
Arm & Hammer Truly Radiant Clean & Fresh Toothpaste
Remember when I said you have to take care of yourself, too? Showering and brushing your teeth are some of the things that seem to fall by the wayside when you are in that new mom haze, but they shouldn’t! Self care is important for you and your baby. I know when Avery was born, I always felt better on the days when I took the time to take a shower and, if time allowed, dry my hair. I really love toothpastes with baking soda, they just make my teeth feel more clean. This Truly Radiant Toothpaste from Arm & Hammer is cleansing and whitening and it has a yummy spearmint flavor!
I saved the best for last because I am so, so excited about this camera! I am horrible about printing photos now that everything I use is digital, so I love that this instant film camera from Fujifilm delivers one-of-a-kind baby picture prints just seconds after snapping the shot. It even has a selfie mode with a little front-facing selfie mirror so I can be in the picture, instead of always being the one taking the pictures. 🙂 I love the idea of bringing this to the hospital with us so we can send our visitors home with their very own photo with the baby. The smaller size photos are great for decorating and craft projects (like a mobile, maybe?) and the camera is small enough to go with me in the diaper bag or my purse. I might even let Avery try it out because he is always picking up a pretend camera to take our photo.
